There are some light on the ceiling of the rx 8 there just the the right of you when you set in the car and you can switch them off or to the door and when they are on door mode they don't turn on when i open my door but the light's in the back of the car turn on so i don' know why they don't turn on when i open the door so it makes it hard to seen in the car at night.

 

I am not sure how it is with the non-sunroof RX-8s, but the one with the sunroof, you can remove that dome light housing by unscrewing the two phillips screws hidden when you open the sunglasses holder, unplug the wire connection to completely seperate the housing. The bulbs can be removed by twisting then removing the base. If the bulbs are ok, your problem are the contact points. You may have to bend it so the points touch each other.

 

well they work when you push them in like to turn them on.

 

I would agree with Grace, I would still test the bulbs just to be on the safe side to rule out a burned out bulb issue. They might be in the process of going bad, but not 100% dead.
