So I go to the wendys drive through from the house, everything is fine. As im leaving wendys and shift from 1-2 i notice it just wont go into gear!! I thought maybe I angled it wrong so i tried again and same thing! Tried from a dead stop from 1 to 2 again and no difference. Then I noticed it wasnt only not going into 2, but all the other bottom gears (2, 4, 6) either!! Eventually i get it to start going into the bottom gears with some force but its even harder to get it out of gear!! I just drove it home going from 1 to 3 to 5.

I've had the mazdaspeed short shifter on there for about 10k miles. About 2 nights ago i accidentally downshifted from 6 to 2 on the highway because some moron swerved into me and I almost lost control trying to avoid her (girl was talking on her cell phone!!!!) I was going about 60 and meant to go into 4th. I didnt fully engage the clutch when I did though because I could immediatly tell I was in teh wrong gear.

Any ideas before I take it into the dealer tomorrow?

 

wasnt there a tsb regarding the shift forks? I just skimmed through rosenthal's tsb's but didnt see it??

 

I recall seeing a TSB for the early 2004 transmissions but I can't find it either...

 

just take it in to the dealer. i had the same problem a while back but only lost third gear. but like you, it was sudden and unexpected. i ended up with a new transmission
