Does the Rx8 have an auto headlight On/Off?
My lights dont turn off or on automatically, yet there is what appears to be an ambient light sensor on the right of the dash.
So whats the deal? Are they supposed to turn off automatically when you turn the car off? what about turn itself on when it starts geting dark?
If so how would I fix that?

On the right side. I attached a picture. Its the little penny size circle and you can see the reflection on the winshield
Ok so if that isnt it, then what is that?
And has anyone done an ambient light sensor headlight mod then?

They are not automatic, but its pretty easy not to forget to cut them on and off... The backlights for the radio/ac controls and all don't light up unless the headlights are on, so if it is dark outside it is pretty easy to remember to turn your lights on since you can't see any of your controls without them
And the car beeps at you if you cut the car off and open the door with the lights still on, so its pretty hard to forget to cut them off...
Also, if you have your gauge (rpm gauge etc.) lights set to be red instead of white, they only turn red when the headlights are on.... So that can help you notice if you don't have your lights turned on... Just get in a habit of always checking them and pretty soon you won't even have to think about it.

I realize that... its not hard to do, just kind of a nuisance coming from a car and street bike that do it for you, so Im not really in the habit.
Hmmm maybe Ill write up a diy on how to wire one in...
yes, auto lights both tied to ignition and tied to optical sensor have been done and documented on the forum.
i wouldnt waste the time. its already here to tie the lights into ignition**... and those with the electrical skills to put together the optical circuit for light sensing can do it with no help, those who arent that skilled, wont be able to do it with the best of instruction
** though it isnt done entirely properly and will result in short HID life.
