Diff going out?!
Okay, so I have about 30k on my car, and I drive it hard. I just wondering if anyone has had problems or knoticed thier diff going out at all. What I notice is when I have my tcs and crap turned off my diff does not lock, my right wheel will spin. so basically no possy traction... I have takin it to the dealer they, of coarse, do not think there is a problem.
Before people start raggin on me about search or stickies, I did search, but hard to find anything on the spacific simptoms.
My drivetrain is completely stock, and I have extended warrenty, and I am the first owner of the car. If someone has any suggestions, or links that would be great, also if anyone has similar symptoms or experiances with the dealer... of coarse the dealers try to deny everything so don't post about random problems. Thanks!

My diff clunks when I put it in reverse if I haven't driven it in a day or two, and occasionally when I shift from reverse to first.
Is this not the same thing? I don't have a solution, but I thought you might be interested to hear if someone else has diff-going-out symptoms.

i have the same issue. pulling off from a stop, or taking a turn from a stop sign, the inside wheel will spin. i know it's a worn out diff, i have approx 30xxx on the car, i beat on the diff pretty hard. i'm either going with a carbonetic or kaaz lsd.

The diff is only a 2x multiplier. I was able to spin the inside wheel from day 1, esp. if it's wet/slick or cold tires.
06carbon8, is this a change you noticed from when the car was new or at 15K?

is the LSD that weak in the stock rx8 to constantly and easily have the unweighted wheel spinning?
Mazda NA should sell the MS diffs over here and warranty them. I heard dealerships won't even install them for you, and of coarse no ordering the part through them.

What I meant to say is that the RX-8 torque bias ratio is 2.0. So the wheel w/ traction gets twice as much torque as the wheel with less traction. Consequently, if takes only a little torque to spin your wheel with less traction, your wheel w/ more traction is only getting 2x of that torque.
