I got a 04 rx 8 with 114000 miles on it with a few mods cold air mid pipe throttle body.when i dtive in second with my foot quater down when i reach 6000 rpm it constantly pops until i give it more gas and when i press down compleyely it pops when i change gears.you know what is causing this?

 

You are using pronouns a bit too liberally.

Could you be more specific? Is it misfiring pops? backfires? exhaust 'gurgles'? 'marbles in a can'?

Is it simply not reving at all over 6,000rpm? Or does it just 'pop' when at 6,000rpm but you can go past it. If you can go higher than 6k, does it smooth out? rough? still popping?

It smooths out then shifting into next gear aftrt that pops while shifting into next gear.then just on a rev on idle at 7000 makes the same pop noise

 

My best guess, which may not be correct because there is no video or accurate description, is the aftermarket midpipe "popping" which is nothing to worry about.

 

Could be its a magnaflow bolt on with a small resinator and the cadalytic convert is straight il have a link to youtube so you can hear it i hope itx not a big issue

 

my 04 does that too... in 1st and 2nd just over 6k it sounds alittle like a fuel cut spitting and kinda a rattle noise.

I have an 04 Rx-8 with AT-4. CAI and Greddy exhaust

 

On a manual trans model it is likely the engine going lean at the APV opening and/or fuel injector transition point, possibilities are fouled fuel injectors, maybe a weak fuel pump
