Completely Confused!!
I was leaving to go to work this morning, got into my 8, put the key in, turned it, and all I heard was a click and nothing. Then the gauges started going crazy. I took the key back out and it started making the sound your car makes when you lock your doors. Constant clicking!!!! Even when the doors were shut. I had to unhook the battery to get it to stop. I charged the battery for about ten minutes and still nothing. Now when I go to start it its normal until the key is all the way on then when I turn it to start, NOTHING but the gauges spazing out. Someone told me it might have to do with the starter but he drives a civic. I trust this forum over a honda guy. Please help me figure this out. I'm lost.
Thanks
Thanks
Connections and grounding are ok. Battery is fully charged. The only thing I see is the 60amp fuse thats right beside the battery has corrosion on it and down that cable. Guess the corrosion is from my old battery I replaced about six months ago.
Edit: Also check the condition of the cable

So my wife hooked up the jumper cables to it a few minutes ago and it fired right up. I let it run a couple minutes then turned it off. I tried starting it again and nothing..... Same thing with the gauges and a clicking sound. I'm gonna take the battery to Autozone and see if its bad for starters. Any other ideas?? Maybe the alternater?
as people have already said, replace the battery
also forgot to mention: If you're running with the stock battery check the fluid level. after 3 years, an upgraded sound system, and lots of other added bits that put load on the electrical system my battery would need topping off more frequently.

Possibly a faulty battery, maybe your alternator is dying, But a 10 min charge does nothing, the same with only letting it run for a few minutes,Charge the battery overnight ,check for a clean tight fitting of your terminals, then let a sparky take a look and test the alternator and battery. And disconnect the battery before charging. Good luck.

and dont turn the car off cold, youre flooding the engine making the problem even worse.
So I took the battery to Autozone. They said it was good but was at 65% charge. Sooo I left it with them overnight to charge. I'll post whats going on when I put the cables on it in the morning
if you need to jump start your car and after you get it running, you disconnect the jumper cables and if it turn off your alternator is bad. if it keeps on running your alternator is good. now sense your getting the battery charge, but the battery on, don't tighten the cable connector, start the car and disconnect the positive cable from the battery (making shore the cable does not make any contact with any thing) if the car turns off your alternator is bad, if its stays running your alternator is good. at this point if your battery goes death again, you have a light on some well, a short circuit some well, or your battery is bad.
OK. So I put the fully charged battery on and turned the key on. Everything is working great (lights a/c radio...everything) I tried to start it and all I got was clicking. Constant click click click!!!! I'm starting to think its the starter. Good path to follow???? Or should I take the alternater off and have it tested first
