A Whole Lot Of Dealer Sadness!!!

I took my '05 8 to the dealer this morning for two reasons:

1. Reflash to the newest flash level due to a CEL

2. ABS and DSC Lights are on continuously

The dealer told me he reflashed to the newest flash that they received two weeks ago but couldn't tell me what the flash was called or what level it was.

He didn't even look at the ABS/DSC problem because he said they never told him to look at it. Then he told me the Mazda computer system was down for the Easter holiday and he couldn't even diagnose the problem if he wanted to. He said there was a guy there that lost his keys and he couldn't even get him a key because of the system being down til Tuesday for Easter.

He said he would have to mail all the paperwork to me because he didn't know the name of the Flash

I am completely DONE with this dealer. It was the most ridiculous experience I have ever had at any auto repair place in my life. It aslo didn't help that the guy looked and talked like Cutter from the Dukes of Hazzard !!!

This is truly sad..

The reason you made the appointment iin the first place was the DSC/TCS.

What does Mazda's computer have to do with this? I've been on the system all day and it has been down.

Just curious, how do you tell what flash is on a car? Any way for someone to tell - or does it take the Mazda shop computer just to see which version?

Thanks,
Dennis

You need a scanner capable of reading the "mode 9" data on the car.

They seem to be hard to come by..

Yea I guess you spell his name Cooter not Cutter. Either way Cooter was a better mechanic and he was better looking that this shmoe at Mazda. I called the sales manager I bought the car from and he basically admitted to me the guy has no idea what he's talking about. He offered me any appointment time I want this week plus a rental. I'm gonna give them one more shot but then I'm outta there. The unfortunate thing is I don't know if the dealer in my home town of York, PA is gonna be much better. When I looked there at buying my 8 they said I could go elsewhere and get a better price but York;s service is better. I asked him if I could get my 8 serviced in York if I bought it from another dealer and he told me flat out " we take better care of those that buy from us! ". So....does that mean I'll get crap service at York if I take it there?

Did you drop this off at Browning? I mean, you should talk to Alex or Robert on this... they'll help ya out. Alex rocks, he helped with my car on his off day... That's rotary love for ya

At least I'd hope it's covered under warranty. Too bad it's not a recall issue and you could get a free rental :P

To fix the A/C ask them to put a heat shield wrap around the A/C tube that's against the fire wall. (Usually made by Thermco) Check at PEP boys. Buy it and they should install for free or you can do it. You should already have had the new filter installed in the A/C.

If brakes still squeal, have them use CRC anti brake squeal.

If you have water in your tail light. Stop cleaning the car so much. Ha Ha

If the clutch grinds gears, maybe the bolts need tightening. A few units have become loose.
Easy to do. Remove starter and tighten up. Maybe you brake too hard and the fluid has boiled. Replace the fluid.

How Do I Get The Regional Manager's Phone Number???

I'm so pissed I can't even begin to explain it. I just need the number for the York/Lancaster Reginal Manager. How do I go about getting that without talking to another person at the dealerships?

Here is the latest. I am so incredibly pissed right now!

I called the Manager on Monday and told him the line of crap I was fed and that I'd be taking the car to anotehr dealer from now on. He kissed my a$$ and offered me any appointment I want plus a rental. So in it went again on Monday night ( dumb move on my part! ). The looked at it Tuesday and said it needed a " part " for the ABS and that it would take til today to get it. They said it woud be ready by today at 4:00 pm. I got to the dealer at 5:00. This dealership is 30 minutes from my house! I pull in as my 8 is leaving with the tech. I asked them if it was ready and they said the tech was out getting the car to " learn " the new part. They said it was a module or something like that. The tech came back and said the car wouldn't learn the part and they would have to call tech support in the morning!

So I ended up driving back once again in a Mazda 6 hatchback. I am livid !!! Not sure what to do. I'll obviously never go back there for service but now I'm real nervous cause these guys are screwing with my brakes and I swear they have NO CLUE what they are doing. 2 days for an ABS light???? What would you do?

Thanks
Matt
