Clutch or Trans or what? Engine revving wildly
2004 manual - 53K miles. Meticulously maintained - not tracked but commuted spiritedly.
Anyway, last night I burned the clutch a bit as a truck damn near ran me off the road on the way home. I feathered it a bit at high RPM in 6th - it happens
Directly after that I noticed that the engine was revving wildly all by itself in 6th when I hit the gas. The engine speed sounded like I had downshifted but I hadn't.
This morning I took a video.

You can see how the revs kick up almost 1000 rpm and then drop back down. To do this I put my foot on the gas and left it there - no clutch, no breaks, no modulation of the accelerator. Does it at higher speed too.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You will have the most load on the trans and engine in 6th gear so you will notice it more in that gear. It looks as though your clutch is slipping and its time for a new one. Good luck and keep us updated.
