Clutch pedal or slave cylinder?

My 8 started acting goofy this morning. I was pulling into the parking lot in 2nd, depressed the clutch and I could hear/feel that the transmission was still engaged and dragging. I then popped it into neutral and it still sounded like it was dragging a bit. I tooled around in the lot a bit and was able to reproduce this dragging in 1st and 2nd with the clutch depressed. I then drove to work (another 2 miles), pulled into that parking lot and could no longer reproduce the problem. But my shifting has been feeling "hard" lately, so I'm pretty sure something is up. My slave cylinder has been squeaking lately upon depression, so I'm afraid that's the problem. I thought I'd start by adjusting the pedal, as that's a bit easier than messing with the slave unit. Anyone had any similar experiences?

On another note, and probably unrelated, but who knows: I've developed an awful front suspension creaking/squeaking/groaning when I go over a large bump/dip. It's fine over small quick hits, but longer bumps where the whole car kind of does an up/down motions (like going over R/R tracks) makes a horrible noise. But the handling seems fine, so I'm not sure where to look. Maybe the spring seats or something...I dunno.

First thing you should always rule out is air in the line, so bleed the slave cylinder first.
And always inspect the clutch pedal assembly for the famous fractures.

My experience with temp-based clutch issues appear to be narrowed down to the slave cylinder.
This is after I replaced one component at a time (master cylinder, clutch line, slave cylinder... bleeding after each swap).
Adjusting the pedal's free play will give you positive results, but the next day (or two) you may be right back to where you started.
Some people here will tell you to replace both the master and slave...
