clutch pedal play?

clutch pedal play?
Soo I was driving recently and realized that the pedal gave me an inch or so of play like it kinda clicks down then starts to engage :/. Anybody got an explanation or fix cause it feels weird.

My 2004 (105,000km) dose the same thing. I checked the clutch bracket thinking it might be broken or cracked since that seems to be an issue with the RX-8. However the bracket is fine. For me it is the spring on the clutch pedal bracket. The car has been like this for as long as I have owned it with no issues what so ever. If there is an easy fix (without removing the clutch pedal bracket) I am interested as well.

No simple fix without removing it as far as I know.
