Hello,

I have installed the reinforcement bracket on my clutch pedal and adjusted the height so its slightly higher than the break pedal, I have a tiny bit of freeplay.

When I push the pedal down the gearbox noise doesn't stop till I'm less than 1 inch from the floor. The problem i'm having is sometimes gears wont shift easy or they will grind and unless I push the pedal all the way to the floor it wont shift at all.

How can I adjust the engagement point of the clutch? Do I possibly need a new slave/master cylinder or would bleeding the clutch also help? I've recently had the clutch, thrust bearing and trans fluid replaced but this didn't make any difference.

I used this guide when I was adjusting the freeplay, the thing im confused about is I dont have alot of freeplay (a few mm) and the clutch engagement point is really close to the floor (less than 1 inch) so I don't see how I can adjust it this way.

A friend at work suggested I actually increase the freeplay amount and this could actually raise the clutch engagement point as the fluid might not be draining out or something? Does this sound correct?

Cool, I pretty much know nothing about cars so appreciate the help.

The way I've been adjusting the freeplay is laying under the pedal and looking at the piston/rod. Then I slowly push down the pedal and as soon as the piston starts moving in I count that as the freeplay ending. I try to get that movement as little as possible.

The way I check that there is some freeplay is I let the pedal out and check I can wiggle the rod left and right, then I push the pedal in while wiggling the rod left and right and feel when it contacts the piston. I try and get it so when the pedal is out the rod will wiggle but as soon as any pressure is applied to the pedal the rod becomes firm (wont wiggle) and the piston starts moving in.

Is this the correct way to adjust it?
