Check Engine Light...!! (HELP)

my car drop this code:

P0661 SSV solenoid valve control circuit low ON 2 CCM ´ (See DTC
P0661 )

what can be?, or what i have to do to fix this? because my car its not running very well.....cuz i have a buddy that have another rx8 just like mine (2004 manual transmission) and yesterday when he drives my car he said me that the car its slower than his car, and yes that's true, because we do a couple of races and my car its fu#$ing slow!!, it loss a lot of power, so please help me with this, i want my car run just normal!!

Local friend had issues with his SSV valve being stuck, but it was throwing a P2070 code.
Your actual SSV solenoid might need replaced.
Swap it with the VFAD solenoid and see if the performance improves.

i might change the SSV, its the same "emission control valve"?, or this is another different valve?

:Eyecrazy:
Umm... what?

Jon316G 02-02-2009 03:56 AM

The SSV has a switch to detect when the valve is open or closed.
Its at the end of the actuator rod linkage.
If this switch isn't satisfied, it'll throw a P2070 code.

you cant change the ssv. you can clean it. no such thing is an emissions control valve..

you might read and search around a bit.

beers

junior_x 02-02-2009 04:24 AM

yeeeah i already read a little bit!!.....lol, sorry i tought that the SSV was the same than the emission control valve

junior_x 02-02-2009 04:26 AM

so? what can i do to fix this problem? =s =(, im a little bit confused

The P0661 code is usually a malfunction with the solenoid itself, the wire harness, or the wires running to it.
You can remove and inspect the solenoid:
Attachment 132979

Or like I mentioned above, swap it with the VFAD solenoid and see if it works better.

junior_x 02-02-2009 04:45 AM

thanks man!!, i will check the wires, if not i think that i will change the SSV......but one person here in the forum told me that i cant change just the SSV, that its more easy to change the manifold, its thats true? =s =(

That person is correct. Let me show you where the SSV is:

Do you see why you can't just change it out?

junior_x 02-02-2009 05:02 AM

oooh, yeah i already understand that!!....

Jon316G 02-02-2009 05:08 AM

LOL... its all about learning the engine before jumping into anything. :)
But swap the solenoid with the VFAD and see is it improves.

I say to use the VFAD because out of the four similar solenoids (VDI, SSV, VFAD, and the air) the VFAD might be the best to sacrifice.

i dont have that long black plastic tube, and also i dont have that gold piece that looks like a wastegate lol i think that its the VFAD, this matter?, i only have the airbox with the air filter inside and no more!!...

Do you have a stock intake or an aftermarket?
If aftermarket, what brand?

junior_x 02-02-2009 05:17 AM

stock intake

Ahhh... that gold piece is the VFAD actuator, not the solenoid.
The solenoid looks like the pic above I posted on solenoid inspection.
Its under the air box.

Jon316G 02-02-2009 05:31 AM

Can you take a pic and post it?

junior_x 02-02-2009 05:36 AM

I have 2 cel code P0171:system to lean and P2070 SSV Stuck open

I try Everthing

Taking out the 2 bolt of the SSV Actuator move the SSV pull back a little not all the way back the air pump don't let me, spray it with lubricant and brake cleaner.

Use 3 time seafoam CARBON REMOVAL PROCEDURE 3 week ago for 2 week the cel was off 4 day ago light turn on.

move the ssv actuator by hand move free without sticky even when move it the ssv actuator all the way up the idle change a little bit.

My next move buy a Vacuum pump vac the actuator to see move like it move with my hand. if move sunday gonna work with the car. Taking out the UIM clean it with deep creep and see inside the manifold SSV and clean it but I think the main problem is the SSV solenoid clean it and put all back together and reset the cel and pray that i resolved my problems.

JOn316G gave me tip of if a see the ssv solenoid gummed up, what is the cleaning it procedure?
or just spray deep creep seafoam in the air hole of the solenoid

sorry for my bad english, i am from Puerto rico so my first language is spanish.

junior_x 02-05-2009 01:10 AM

lol, my first language its spanish too!!, and tomorrow for sure i will post the pic of the loose hose (sorry about that)
