Alright so i got up today and drove my car around and i saw that my oil light was on, so i was like ok ill put some more oil. Unfortunately all the auto stores are closed so i couldnt, then i decided to wash my car. after i finished washing my car i turned it on and had my check engine light on. Anything i should be concerned about?


New Motor has= 1.6k miles on it

I would get the CEL code read so you know what it is. Also you should know the rx8 burns oil. Always carry an extra quart of oil with you. Plus you should be checking your oil level either every or every other gas fill up, depending on how you drive your car. The difference between the bottom and top line on the dipstick is 1.8qts. IMO it should never get that low, I like to keep mine between the top dot and top line.

 

tomorrow get the code read at your local auto zone.
make sure you top off the oil while you're there.
