CEL and Cruise Control
Hi guys,
Just got a CEL when I got back the car back from the dealer. I check the CEL's and saw I had 2.
1 - Rear HO2S circuit slow response ON 2 HO2S (could this be bc I removed the cat)
2 - Neutral switch input circuit problem ON 2 CCM ( they said that they have to put one more small piece into the gear box, this could be cause of the light)
Btw my cruise control doesn't seem to work. Any ideas, could they be related? Could not find the fuse realted the CC. any help?

No real fuse for Cruise Control, comes right of the PCM. Maybe they were dicking around and didn't get the connector back on right?
In terms of your other issues..............yes, first cel is due to removed CAT.
2nd CEL..............not sure............what the hell did they not put in the gear box? Think I'd find that one out real quick.
It very well could be the cause of the cruise issue!
Need someone with more experience than I.

I have installed footwell lights, they used the wire for the door so the light get on when you open the door. But I checked which fuse they have used, its the one for the Audio.
Regarding the gear, I had to replace my 5th and 6th gear due to baddddddd missshift. They said that they have put all together but waiting for one more thing which will switch off the light. I think it could be related to that since the car cant see the gear maybe?

A New N Switch or just get it connected as many guys forget to re-connect when Gear Box is taken out and put back in.
If the neutral switch isn't connected properly, wouldn't he be experiencing idle issues? I don't know man...they gave you your car back with a part missing and not yet installed? If they're waiting for "one more thing that will switch off the light," then it's obviously an electronic part, but I'm rebuilding my tranny right now and have no idea what the hell they could be waiting on that would effect that.
N switch ey ?? Which one would that be. I dont have any idle or any other probs. Drivabilty is also normal.
So I should check the fuse on the top? ı will do that tonight, checking all of the fuses. wanted to do it today but they are kinda tight, wanted to take my time.

hey ash8, thx for the info man.
I wont be able to check the switch without bringing it to the dealer and tell them to check it.greate advice man still. Guess its that one that affects the CC.
UPDATE: The missing part is the Neutral Switch sensor, which deactivated the CC. Dont know why they have not told me that before. But thx for the info ash8.

UPDATE: Got the Sensor CEL disappeart BUT still no CC. Checked the wires, sensors, CEL,PCM could not find anything tht would cause the CC error. They will check now with HQ and ask what the problem would be if they would have to do anything else after opening the tranny.
Hope they find it.
Any ideas you guys???

Hmmm...First off, I wonder what they used to plug the hole until the new switch came? Hopefully the old one without introducing particles into your tranny fluid.
As for the CC, I'm a little stumped. It seems to me that it is probably a completely seperate issue. There are only two switches in the manual trans...the reverse switch and the neurtral switch. I can't imagine what would be the cause of your loss of CC. I'll keep thinkin about it, though. Let us know!

Hey man, yes they have used the old sensor. Was there when they took the new one in.
I will deff keep you posted about it. They have emailed HQ for support, since there is no sign from the PCM that there is fault with the CC.Weirddddd

Both these switches will also de-activate the CC, but if they were defective you should see other issues like, No Brake Lights (rear), starting problems from Clutch Pedal Switch...you guys have to put foot down on Clutch Pedal to start...we don't have that switch in Australian RX-8's.
The only other thing I can think of is Steering Wheel switches/connections and or the PCM which has the integrated CC system inside it...
^+1
The clutch switch (not the starter interlock switch) is used to deactivate the cruise control.
This is also a problem with people who feel the need to mess with the clutch pedal adjustments.
If the pedal's hard stop (for the stroke) is set too far out (less stroke), you won't be able to engage the CC.

Hey,
I am slowly starting to think that sth went wrong during the installationg of the footwell lights since that was the only extra thing that changed in the car. However is there would be a problem with any swtich wouldn't a PCM scan mention anything?
I will be checking the switches and connections under the steering wheel.
However I dont feel any change in the clutch. I also have brake lights and all.
Will see...

You'll be inspecting component #2 in the diagram below:

Its easier to unplug the connector and hook up a meter to the switch.
Then read the resistance with the pedal out and then pressed in.
You should see it change states.

Thx for the info and diagram. I will be checking the switches tonight. Since I dont have a meter, will check the connection in general. Since there is nothing else in my mind there might be an issue there. I did check the connectiong for the footwell before in fact. The energy was taken from the Audio fuse in the fuse box and connect to the door wiring. But will try those switches, maybe sth came loose ?
Btw is there any switch I could replace the clutch with at least to check if the problem is the switch.
UPDATE:
Service Chef called me and said that HQ send them few troubleshooting guides to check upon. Will have to take the car to the stealship to get a feedback.

UPDATE:
sorry for the late update....summer holiday kept me away from the PC. Well my CC problem is solved by itself. I drove with my car to the seaside and back appraoc 2000 km total. On the way there I turned on the CC and tried ti SET it and it did. Sometimes it did sometimes I didnt, however it felt like. The way back had the same issue. Today when i was going to work and on the way back turned the CC on and variouse gears, rpms and speeds and worked fine.
Dont know how or why. My guess maybe the PCM had to relearn with the sensors in the tranny.
But now it works

. I have this weird thought that whenever I do a CEL clearence with my Greddy infotouch it cleares the info for the CC.
