2007 with 130,000KM. New s2 fuel pump, bhr ignition upgrade, and (new) rebuilt engine after car wouldn't start due to low compression for one of the rotors. While installing the new engine I was sent this pics from my dealer. They advised something I need to address but not affected performance of the cat at the moment. They checked the temp to make sure was in range.
Question is considering all the new parts, should I be getting on this sooner then later?
Yeah the problem is, the most reliable cat converter is the stock one and new they are $$$$ and buying one used is risky because you can't tell if a cat is good by looking at it.
So your cheapest and best option is going with a catless mispipe, which is illegal and can be a pain in the *** depending on where you live..

Thanks 9k, that makes sense. Yeah I think its around $2000 in Canada! Don't they still cause problems with our engines? Is a good midpipe "safer"?
Yes with a catless midpipe there is no chance of it clogging or coming apart and clogging your mufflers. There are some high end race cats (HJS) but they have to be fabricated to a midpipe and that is $$$. The other "race cats" don't last in rotaries. Some just buy a cheap one like I listed above and just run it for inspections and that is it and the run catless the rest of the year.

That's what I do. I have the Walker cat and install it for a few weeks every 2 years for emissions testing.
I've had the BHR resonated midpipe for 4 years and recommend it highly.
Thanks fellas! RX8 is my only car and daily driver - been that way for 10 years now. I'm really attracted to the BHR product because of their quality, but also because of the "note" they have dialed in- paired with a stock exhaust seems perfect for a dd.
Is there a big difference in anything not obvious/tradeoff with going midpipe for people in my situation (IE. f I were to drop at the dealer for service would it be obvious I'm running catless midpipe?) I do have a accessport.
