Car not starting, memory reset

Hello,

First of all, I'm sorry if this is a repost or if there is another thread with the same problem but I have tried searching for a couple hours over the last 2 days and wasn’t able to find a similar issue.

I had a weird thing happen to me 2 days ago, I will try to be as detailed as possible with what I did and what happened...

I was driving with my brother and we stopped at a convenience store to grab some munchies. I pulled the hand brake and turned the car off and left the key in the ignition while my brother went out.

When he came back, I released the hand brake, pressed the clutch pedal and turned the key to start the car but nothing happened.

There was no click nor any cranking. There were no lights on the dash that usually appear when the key is in the on position. The car started moving backwards because the hand brake was released so I slammed on the brake to stop the car but the brake had no pressure. Like, it went all the way to the floor without any resistance.

So I reengaged the hand brake and tried to turn the key again and nothing happened. My initial thought was that the engine died, but then I remembered that it would of still cranked.

After 3-4 tries, it finally turned on, the brake regained pressure and the steering wheel light was on and the DSC off light was on too. I turned my wheel all the way to the left and then right and that removed the steering wheel light. The DSC off light was still on so I turned off the car.

It restarted right away without any issues and the DSC off light was gone. I noticed that the trip odometer was reset and the radio presets were erased.

I thought that it might be battery related, so I checked the battery connections when I got home and they were fine. The car battery was new when I bought the car in May 2013.

I was hoping someone would be able to direct me towards what could of caused the issue or if someone else had this happen to them.

Thanks in advance for any constructive guesses.

Venko

Loose cable.
Yes, u've mentioned you checked the connection.
Just tighten it up again.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my thread...

I will recheck the connections.

Is there anything else that could of caused the starting issue and memory reset?

Thanks,

Venko

Thanks,

It's could a loose corroded connection at the battery, check that first, but you could also have a loose/corroded ground at one of the other grounding points on the car.
