I haven't been driving for about 2 months. But I always start the car every 3 - 4 days and let it run and sometimes even drive around the block. I was away for 2 weeks and now it will not start. I jump started the car with cables, it was fine.

When I turned it off and tried to turn it on again a few minutes later, it would not start. I think my battery is dead!

I'm in London UK. Whats the best battery to get? Go to Mazda and get one or....

Please help asap.

If this is the first time your battery went below starter start threshold, you might be able to recharge it provided it's not fully discharged. Get an automatic battery charger, pull the battery out and charge it.

As a preventative, you might want to disconnect your battery altogether if you know you won't be driving for a while. I think the car continues to drain the battery even when off. Driving for a short while once in a while probably won't sustain the charge. It's only slowing down the charge drain.

As for battery recommendation, I'd get any reputable brand battery with similar updated crank amp specs (2004 came with a weaker battery IIRC).

Many folks appear to favor Optima batteries (good power and can hold a charge well), but I read reports that Optima batteries are unrevivable once they lose their charge. Take the last bit of info with a grain of salt since it appears to be annecdotal.

Thank you. I injured from a recent car accident with a friend and thats the reason as why I
am not driving. I am hoping to driver as normal come October/November this year. I am very worried about if I do not change the batter and keep the running running from time to time, it will mess up the engine and cause me problems =(

So thats why I wanted to get one, so I can keep on warming the car up.
Do you think I should get a battery in October when I start to drive as normal?

Buy a bosch or something like that, Mazda parts are generally overpriced.
Don't drive the car around the block just to shut it off when it's worm. You're doing more bad than good to the engine that way. Don't even start it. It's not needed.

I mean, I let it warm up for about 10 mins and drive for 10 mins. Then I let it run for another
10 mins and then I turn it off.

So its okay if I buy a battery in October when I start to drive properly?

If I leave it how it is now (dead battery), it will not damage anything? Engine or anything else?
That is why I am scared =(

I have left my car sitting with a dead battery for 4 months, I just disconnected it and bought a replacement.
Driving the car and keeping it on like that will just harm your engine.

You hear both stories.
Petrol is a solvent so yes, it may not be the best for an engine to sit still for extremely long periods of time.
However most of our engines, especially the less powerful 192ps ones, mostly fail because of carbon buildup. Driving like that is carbon deposit heaven.
Start it every month if you're really wanting to, even if it's not strictly necessarily. I fired up my car after 5 months and it took just the usual split second for it to start

Leaving it sitting with a dead battery won't hurt anything, it just means your car's security system has no juice to work. I had a similar problem with my 2008 40th Anniversary edition RX8. At the time, especially in winter I was driving my other vehicle, a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 GT for its front-wheel drive prowess in the snow. So I charged the RX8 battery a few times and that worked, Eventually my Mazda dealer replaced the battery and pro-rated down the cost under my warranty. If your car is still under the full warranty, you could do the same as I did.

Get the best battery you can in the UK that fits the size and the matching cranking amps. Since I am in the states, I don't know what the best battery in the UK is. But I am sure any reputable auto supply shop could provide you with a top class battery, at a price cheaper than your Mazda dealer. I would get the best and strongest battery that you can afford, and that fits. That would be better since the car is sitting at times.

The clock and security system and other electronic monitoring of systems, even while not driving the RX8, Will drain the battery if it is not driven for awhile to keep the battery .
charged. Now that I sold my Mazdaspeed3 GT (loved the car but couldn't afford TWO car payments and insurance at the same time) , I am using the RX8 as my daily driver, and I don't have any problems keeping the battery charged.
