Can't get the boot open, no power, rear lock damaged.

Right I have a 2004 RX8 and I need to get the boot open, there is no engine or battery in the car, the rear lock in the light doesn't seem to work with the key so I can only assume it was replaced or damaged.

Now besides ripping out the back seats and boot linings to get to the lock is there another way to open the boot ?

Even a pig of where to attached jump leads would help

Trunk... Do you have the original key to the car or the Valet key? The valet key won't open the trunk/boot lock, so you'd have to connect the battery and pop the trunk/boot from the inside button under the dash.

There should be a manual release inside the trunk (boot), lower the pass through and grab it with a coat hanger.

Like stated above, There an access panel to the trunk between the to back seats. That should come right out. On the inside of the trunk lid there is a yellow "glow in the dark" lever to pull that will open the trunk. It is designed so that you can escape the trunk if locked inside.

If you open the trunk of your red drift car you will see exactly what it looks like.

I have the ignition key but the lock must have been changed in the past.

Is that on the 2004 model or 2006 upwards, the drift car is 130miles away atm unfortunately

Thanks everyone for trying to help, the rear lights have water in them so I wanted to fix that before I send it away to get the 1UZFE engine fitted.

You just have to push the release its a white plastic/glow in the dark push latch on the underside of the boot/trunk. You should be able to push it open through the trunk pass through with a broom handle easy.

Anyone have a pic of this release, nothing on Google and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I looked...

Its hard to take a pic of. Its easy to see. Just shine a flash light through the passthrough you will see it on the back wall.
