Don't quite understand this one, so maybe someone can help me. I live in Birmingham, AL where it has been terribly cold recently. There are certain times I can get into my car and crank it up, turn on the heat and the A/C light will be on. I can push the button and turn it off and turn it on. It only does it ever so often. Is there something I am missing. Not a big deal but it puzzles me. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

 

Have you read your owner's manual?

If you have selected the windshield defogger the a/c compressor will be activated for short periods. This is because the a/c helps to dry the incoming air via condensation on the cooling coils. This is almost a universal feature in modern cars.
