A/C Condenser hole
Last Friday, I was driving to work in the morning and saw what I thought was steam or smoke coming from under my hood. It ended up being A/C refrigerant spraying on hot engine parts.
I took the 8 into the dealer and they found a hole in the A/C condenser coil. Evidently this was caused by a road hazard (rock, etc.). Unfortunately, this repair is not covered by the warranty...$595.00.
If you look at where the condenser coil is located, it seems pretty vulnerable to road hazards like this. Has anyone else had this problem/repair?

you need to get it fixed and while they are replacing it you need to go to www.racingbeat.com and buy the oil and ac protective screens. For +/-80 bucks it could have helped prevent this from happening.

Perhaps your insurance will cover some of the cost.
BTW, there is a lengthy DIY on installing protection for your A/C condenser and your oil coolers. Might want to read that and consider installing protection yourself. As Tig says, RB sells ready-made screens, but you can also fashion something yourself if you're handy.

I have just been diagnosed woth the same repair. Due to my car being in the shop for 45 days for an engine, the service advisor took pity on me and is not going to charge me. I am going to order the screens and install or get installed. Worth $80.00 to me.
