Question burnt smell

I just purchased my 06 RX8 two days ago. It had 54k on it. Last night while driving i started smelling a burnt smell inside of the car. It almost reminds me of barring grease. It smelled hot or burnt. It was almost nauseating. Any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks! ~Cat

Did you check the parking brake? how much exp do you have with standards? are you riding the clutch?

Need more information to help you. Were there any sounds, What gear were you in, what speed were you driving. Is this from a stand still or while on the highway? Need a lot more information.

I drove it 15-20 miles up to my friends house. Surface streets and highway. Don't think I had it over 75 due to all the freakin cops out lastnight. Ebrake wasn't on. Didn't grind the clutch. Don't ride the clutch however still on a bit of a learning curve as the car is alot different than other standards I have owned. Never had a car with this power. Smelled it a bit while I was driving there. Then took her for a spin about 20 minutes later but didn't drive it crazy cause she lives in a small town. The car wasn't running hot but the inside seemed really hot.

If the rubber shifter insulator isn't sealing well, you'll smell the trans fluid in the cabin.
