Burnt smell

Burnt smell

I just bought an rx8 o7 and has a funny burnt smell when i pull in the garage! Is this normal?? Any info would be great! I thought it was the armour all that the dealer sprayed all over the engine compatment but its been a month and still have the same smell

Funny you mentioned it, but mine does too! However, if you are using winter tires during this season, it is because of the tread that makes this smell...

Check for the remnants of a burned plastic bag on your exhaust system. Fairly common occurance. If that's what is causing the smell, it will eventually go away after the entire bag is burned away.

no plastic bags i checked for that! Is it something I should bring it back to the dealer for?? Its still under warranty

my fear would be that if you brought it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong, would they charge you? what does the smell make you think of? burnt oil? burning rubber? melting wires? burnt coolant?

I suspect you're picking up the sweet scent of unburnt fuel, oil, all kinds of other goodies compliments of the POS cat and high temp exhaust.

Translation: completely normal

smells slightly like oil but its not burning an abnormal amount of oil! Just smells a little different than most cars! Think it is normal but just wanted to see what you guys thought
