Question Burnt Apex Seals ?

Has anyone ever heard of this before ? I have been searching all morning and cant find much info other then one response on yahoo answers .

My car is:
2004 Mazda Rx8 6 speed 135,000 all maintence always done on time .
5w30 non synth , no premix in gas , coils just changed with spark plugs too .

I was driving my car around today and held the traction control button down for 7 second so I could test some launches with it , let it warm up while parked and then took it very gentle still for about another 10-15 mins before really getting on it like usual . While driving I could smell a very faint burning smell almost like candle wax , I could smell it a bit when turned on the heat . After I really got it hot and lauched it a few times I couldnt smell it at all . Just seeing if anyone has any experience with this .

My car still runs like a top like the day it was bought , idles smooth , pulls hard , churpin tires in 3rd and 4th (cold day today) . If my apex seals were burning would there be more symptoms ?

Apex seals wear, crack, or break completely, not burn. And if you had a problem with them you would have a loss of compression and this a loss in power, drive-ability, etc.

No problem, just make sure for more general questions you read the FAQ's and sticky threads. There is a ton of useful info there.

More likely that you were burning up your clutch. As mentioned apex seals don't burn.
