Breather Canister
Breather Canister
Latest inspection report identifed "leaking breather canister" and a recommendation that its replaced - at a cool 600.00 plus! Any ideas what this is, I seem to be struggling online to identify the culprit and hence sourcing a replacement - assuming of course that its practical to replace as a DIY project? Any assistance appreciated.

We need more details from you.
Was the problem actually diagnosed... Or just an inspection report? Do you have a Check Engine Light on? How was this issue found?
I get the impression that it was code found in an inspection report, and such, the "leaking canister" is basically one in a list of suggestions. The vast majority of times, the code is caused by a loose gas cap, and just needs to be erased.

Hi
The problem was highlighted in an inspection report, I don't have a check engine warning light on - so does that make it less of a worry? I spoke to the garage, they tell me it's more commonly known as the evaporation canister that sits below the tube through which you top up engine oil.

So there is a visual oil leak then? Can you confirm this yourself? If you can't then ignore it. I don't think we have such a part off hand.
If you actually DO have an oil leak, and this is where the tech thinks it's leaking from, then we would see to see what it is actually leaking from.
