Blue smoke coming from exhaust?

I was told today that someone saw blue smoke coming from my exhaust when he watched me leave work last week. I had just cranked the car and let it warm up for a minute. I pulled out of the parking spot (I usually back into spots so I can see to get out around the all the SUV's my co-workers drive without getting hit in the parking lot.)

Anyway, I got to the stop sign to turn out of the parking lot. The guy said when I let off the gas pedal, coasting to the stop, blue smoke came out of the exhaust. He has owned RX7's and is familiar with the rotary and he recommended I take it to the dealership to be checked. Just had the oil changed 2 fill ups ago and notice they overfilled it a little. Also have some of the foamy shuff at the top of the dipstick. When I dropped it off, I made sure the kid doing the oil change knew it took less oil that other cars.

The car is running fine and has the usual soot inside the exhaust pipe every week when I wash it. Was wondering how much everyone else has on theirs. It does seem to have more the last couple weeks.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Not experiencing it but blue smoke is burning oil and you shouldn't be burning enough to see smoke.

Funny you should mention this- just last night, getting on the freeway, I was in 2nd under pretty heavy acceleration. The car was fully warm, as I had driven it for a few miles to get to the freeway. I happened to look in my rearview mirror to see a sizeable puff of smoke behind my car. It wasn't in front of me a second before, so I can only assume it came from my car. Right after, I started to smell burning oil. Seemed like the car was running fine, and today, there was only a hint of the burning oil smell. I checked my oil, and it was right on the low end of the dipstick, so I put a quart into it. Anyway, this smoke cloud worries me. Is it possible that too much oil can get injected into the engine? If this can happen, it looks like it would have been a pretty gross overshoot of its mark, judging by the size of the smoke cloud. I have about 1k miles until my next oil change. Should we be worried enough about these instances of smoke to warrant taking the cars in?

RX8 blUE smoke and stalling

Hi everyone, I am new at the forum and my English may be queit badly, because of I am grom Poland.

So, I bought 2005 RX8 RHD with broken engine from UK in november 2016. Then I made it LHD and rebuild engine. All DIY and costless. Because I am student and have little money and time only weekend. It was horrible because of lack of parts. Ok, but time to tell problems.

Car starts cold and hot without problems, but make huge amount of blue smoke , the most at revvs. I found much oil in air pipe, but when installed catch can it not help.

It is one problem , the second one is stalling when warm up. Starts with 1500rpm but when gets hot it have 1000 and less and about 700 gets stalling and die. Ofcourse little throttle can get rpm very stable at any rpms. I have p0113 error and checked wiring and change sensor, nothing helped. And p2257 error. And alternator don't charging light is on. At weekend will have working alternator.

When rebuild I changed apex seals to mazda OEM. Rest of seals was good with workshop manual, so only cleaned all. All valves are ok. Not see any vacuum leaks.

I have focom with obd reader, so MAF at wam idle just before die is about 4.7. Air temp is -55 celsius degrees because of p0113. All what was doping was on new yuasa battery charged full. No missfires after I mounted good wire cap properly. One was loosely.

Ask if to have any ideas and wrote if you know something. Thanks !

P.s I know what I am doing and what I did, so please don't tell that I should give all to profesionalists , best mazda dealer.

The blue smoke and oil in intake could be due to adding too much oil.

The engine stalling at warm idle could be a vacuum leak. Your MAF reading of 4.7 g/s is a little low which could also indicate a vacuum leak.

Here is a link to the factory service manual:

The specific page for troubleshooting P0113 errors:
DTC P0113

I checked this and it looked normal, oil pressure is fine and it hasn't any oil leaks through oil sump or dipstick. Is it possible to engine giving too much oil via metering pump because of bad temp sensor ? And why catch can isn't catching any oil when connected to oil vacuum. Is it possible to oil back to accordian tube via oil injector vacuum?

And I will check sensor with this manual, thanks for it . I read thanks it is often to p0113 make stalling in many cars, but again and exactly will check for any vacuum leaks.

Thanks!

Hi, I only made 2 test kilometeres, because of problems with idling. So engine running all maybe 20 minutes. But it was started many times, because of testing. It isn't possible, I put it like it should be puted.

Side faces of second cylinder were grinded 0,07mm, so it was in guidelines. It need to be reached ?

On friday will check vacuums and change alternator and try remove p0113 dtc.
