Battery light

I bought a 2005 new 2 years ago and for the last few months, the battery light has been tuning on for, at least, 20-30secs after the car starts from cold.

When I start moving the car, though, the light goes away.
Should I be worried about this?

Okay Swoope....I'll bite.
Why wouldn't this just be a battery that is getting ready to go(not holding much of a charge or loosing charge), but once the car starts all is fine because now you are running off the alternator?
And when it's run for awhile the alternator is re-charging the battery to some extent, but then bleeds off over time when sitting(loosing it's charge). Of course I'd check the alternator out as well at this point.

I realize what you are saying about the cold setting in, but................

how old is it?

my replacement mazda battery lasted ~3 years. my motorcycle battery just died at 5 years, but i have always used a battery tender jr on it. i think i got an extra 2 years out of it that way..

and to the point, at 2 years i doubt it is the battery, but the temp swings in arthurs area would make me check the cables first. as i think he is a bit of a tinkerer!

The battery is 2 year old, I guess --- it's the same age as the car, I hope.

In my other cars, batteries have not died or show signs of trouble until they are, at least, 3.5 - passed 4 yrs.

One more piece of info: occasionally, the light did pop up while I was driving on the freeway but only for several seconds.

Could the light be lying due to loose connection? So far, I have never had a lousy starting incident. not even once. Does this warrant taking in the car for check-up?
Any other 2005 showing these signs?

Some of you suggested that this was due to the colder weather. I do not think so because the light has been showing up all Spring and Summer of this year.

I opened up the battery cover and checked the cables and they seemed pretty tight and in good shape. I did not see any battery froths on the terminals and things looked nice and clean.

I did not see any color indicators displaying the status of the battery, though.
