Recently my car battery died, and when i tried jump starting it using a battery booster, but i connected the cables the wrong way round.....!!!!!!*

And when i finally worked out the cables were connected the wrong way, i re-connected the correct way and *tried starting it again and nothing, nothing at all.....!!!*

Started looking around and found the main fuse was blown...
So i replaced it with a genuine main fuse from mazda.....

And it worked ..... Car started up every thing was normal....
A couple of days later i had was parked, Car at normal temp ...my centre console ( the audio and heating and the display) started to go on and off ???? *Since that day it has been like that some times it will work normal like nothing is wrong and then some times not even work ( no power to centre console ) nothing works audio goes off... Heater buttons dont even work no audio and no display.... *Its as if the power to the centre console goes off??? Ive not open or removed the console recently... I did attach a aux-in cable to audio main electric board but this was a year ago... And this cable has never given me n e problems....*

So i checked all fuse again by removing every one and from under the bonnet and also checked fuse's located in main cabin of car (passenger side)

But nothing its has a mind of its own.... So i remove the centre console unit check all cables a plugged in .. But still the same .... *So i remove the whole console unit start to dismantle the whole thing i started with the removal of the aux-in cable... And then tried it again but still the same ...

So then i checked the heater buttons ( the three ***** which control the heating And a-c system) i removed them from the *main unit and inspected ... And i found a dead locust fried or just died itself i dnt know... So i removed it cleaned the whole unit the circuit board checked the solder wasnt dried or broken... All was good.... Cheked everywhere for more locust but found nothing all the audio system units were clean (no locust) and also *checked the display unit ..... *So t i then but everything togeather again and nothing problem was still there ..... I did notice something .... When ever the centre console lost and then gained its power i heard a tick....???? Not like spark tick but like a fuse pops the noise i hear comes from around under near the foor pedals??? *Ive looked under there with a torch everything is fine undrr there*

Does any one know what could be causing this???

The only thing which i will check is the wiring in the boot for the amp and back speakers??? But i dnt think any thing will be wrong there...

Can any one help????*

Main centre console unit loses power
Sometime it works fine
Some time it flickers on and off*
Sometime it will work for 30 sec sometime just for few seconds
And some time no power at all*
If it is working and have the heating on and then it looses power the fans will still be working but i cant control them the temp remains the same temp and fan speed stay the same... Just cant swith them off until the power returns to centre console....

I am French (sorry for my english) and I come on the forum rx8 club to ask your help. Forum RX8 France, no one has managed to find yet.

I have the same problem as described haroon5219.

I've checked all the fuses, all the connectors under the steering wheel, all the connectors behind the unit, the two connectors from the front of the unit and the radio, checked the screw them together.

Tonight I'll check the battery and try to clean the connectors. I wonder if it would not come from it.
Maybe it's also a problem of ground but I don't know how to verify this.

Can anyone help us please ?

Do your interior lights work when the headunit and display go off?

If they don't it's probably a problem with the room circuit, there's a fuse labeled Room in the interior fuse panel. The headunit, display, h ac controls and interior lights all get power from here. You said when this happens you here a tick under the dash? That's probably a relay clicking, I'm not sure if there are any on that circuit I'll try looking at some wiring diagrams and see if I can find anything to help.

Like you said it could also be a grounding issue, you can check your grounds with a multimeter by setting the multimeter to Ohms and checking for resistance between the negative battery terminal and the grounding point, it should show zero or very close to zero.

Also check your battery terminals, make sure they are clean and tight.

I'm not sure for the interior lights, I will say you when the problem will appear the next time.

For my problem, there is no tick. I mean, there is no noise when the problem occurs, just off the central unit.

Hello did you resolve this issue, becouse I'm having the same problem, but in my case it dosen't want to turn on any more so no radio, no navigation and no a/c.
