Air filter / Throttle body vaccum connector

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, can anyone help me? When reinstalling the stock air filter, one of the 3 plastic hose connectors broke (the small plastic piece that connects the vacuum hose to the throttle body intake). Anyone know where I can find a replacement? Or ideas to fix it (glue, duct tape, blocking the hose)??

Not sure what the name of this piece is... any ideas?

Its your accordion tube and it connects to your throttle body.

Hi there! Quick question. For what is that no. 3 air hose joint?

I was filling up my oil awhile ago and noticed that that part is MISSING! Literally nothing is connected to that hole of my accordion! Lol

Should i be worried?

Hello, Arexeyt. welcome to the club. I borrowed this picture from another member, I hope he won't mind. This is your air hose layout.

#3 goes to your oil metering pump. Very important. Your motor will die without it. I would get that checked ASAP.

While you're here, check out the new member thread and the first $100 mods. They can be a great cheap way to get the most out of your car

Thanks for the warm welcome Bigbadchris!

I was browsing through some google photos and came across these:

I was wondering why they aren't the same. The other one does not have a hose.

Oh and i forgot to tell you that i have an 09 but its only an automatic. Does the photo you just showed me come standard to all 8 models?

I apologize for being so dumb about this. Lol

Not dumb! It's complicated stuff. I apologize, I am more familiar with the series 1. The series 2 is different in terms of engine layout.

When they did the milky oil on the dipstick TSB it eliminated one of the connections on the accordion:

https://www.rx8club.com/attachments/...-oil-gauge.pdf

So you not only don't have to see milky oil on the dipstick, if your engine starts puking oil you also don't have to see it carboning up your engine and ruining the cat converter too ...

If you read the TSB carefully you will see that they actually don't eliminate the third hose . There is another hose attached to the new oil fill assy.

I understand, but from what I've seen it gets in from the filler oil neck hose rather than that other longer, lower hose that also goes vertical to get into the accordion fitting. Seems to me there must be a restrictor in there somewhere, otherwise it would grossly affect idle like a big vacuum leak with it hooked up to the UIM like that.

Brettus 07-03-2015 04:39 PM

All the air that goes into the engine is still metered . It just takes a tortuous path to get there .

TeamRX8 07-04-2015 05:38 AM

Yes, but it still has to be restricted somehow or the idle control would not function properly since this new pipe routing essentially bypasses intake air around the throttle body via the oil filler assembly.
