Acceleration and struggling issue

Hi, I've recently noticed a problem with my 2004 RX8
which I feel is dangerous.

After accelerating hard AND THEN returning to normal driving(it happened 3times going around slow moving vehicles), afew seconds later the car struggles like if it's choking or having some kind of fuel cut. The rpms will drop and shift to a lower gear(car is auto) and after about 5-10 seconds of this it will jump back up. It feels like a misfire, but, Im not sure. I will repeatedly step on the gas but it doesn't help.

The car has no idling or starting issues.
I already changed the air filter, oil, and spark plugs.

Any ideas?

EDIT: 38xxx, no engine mods

when was the last service? (plugs/coils)
I re-ask that question because they tend to fail.
Also, inspect your cat converter and make sure it isn't clogged or damaged. Your fuel filter should be checked as well

Check your coils and wires too. Those fail more often than not. Also may want to check MAF and ESS.
