just got my car the other day and found out the ac just blows hot air. My wifes murano did the same thing and her controls were just bad. Is there anyway to test if the controls are at fault or could it be that it needs re-charged? Also its an 04 with no warranty.

 

First thing I'd do would be to see if the pully clutch is engaged, so the compressor is running. If not, see if there's a fuse blown. If the fuse is good and the compressor does not run, I'd be inclined to take it to an AC shop for a look-see. Could be the pully clutch, the controls, or a big loss of refrigerant. If you lose enough refrigerant for the low pressure switch to kick in, it needs a professional look.

If the compressor does run, then check the pressure. These days you can get an inexpensive gauge the same place you buy R-134a. Some cans even have the gauge built in.
