Unhappy 8yr/100,000 mile warranty RIPOFF!!!!

Ok. Well went to Mazda to get my car fixed, come to find out I needed a new engine, clutch, and converter.(so they say) Everything was going to cost me $6500. I called Mazda USA to see if I could get help on some of the exspense. Keep in mind that when I bought my RX8 NEW I had to put a rebuild in it with only 10,000 miles on it. Mazda USA got the District Manager involved to see what could be done and I was told that the warranty was not going to be valid because I did not have any maintenance records for my 8. My husband is the one that ALWAYS did the oil changes and etc. Got that call today saying the district turned my claim down and I was told he didn't have to give me a reason why. INSTEAD helping me! he went UP on the expense price to $7500 to fix my car. What should I do? Has anyone else been turned down a warranty? Please HELP ME.... I still owe $11,000 on it........

Sorry to hear that but is the owners duty to keep track of all maintenance records otherwise for all they know you never changed the oil or added oil during fill-ups as needed. This is also clear stated in the extended engine warranty paperwork.

This is not a mazda thing, all manufacturers do it. A girl who worked for me had a 2008 Expedition with 35,000 on it when the engine threw a rod. She had only changed the oil once in 35,000 miles (crazy I know). Needless to say, she could not provide maintenance records so they denied her warranty claim.

If you are going to do your own oil changes you need to make sure you document it very well.

Well I have the receipts of everytime he did it. I was told as long as he wrote the mileage down on the receipt we would be fine. I guess not...Well Im going to call Mazda USA and see what this district manager said. Since he says he doesn't owe me a reason.

Well, if you have receipts and mileage on them then you have a case. The engine warranty does not state exactly how the records should be kept, just that you have records. I think and judge would side with you. Consider a small claims court, in most places the limit is now $5,000.00 so it is worth a shot.

I would try and locate a lawyer who deals with warranty issues, he/she may work on a contingency.

and remember, kill them with kindness, even if you have to get ugly. Being a bitch to them will just make it worse for you.

Other people have 'come up' with the maintenance documents in the past. Unless you've already strait up told them you don't have it and you honestly know it's been well maintained, "find" the documentation and get it to them. If your husband is a self help mechanic even, have him come up with the receipts necessary.

Double check the warranty agreement to find out exactly what you need to document.

Good luck!

crazy thing is 97% don't even see that ****. i was in the same boat my engine went bad they replaced it before but the second time around was like umm nope we dont want to cover you belive me its a hassle so they give a quote that an engine replace is 6550, when they replaced my it was a total of $7,500 so its like i love my car too much to go thru that but then you can get it replaced and fail again, and have to deal with it all over then you your out of warranty,.. It took a while i just got mine rebuilt thru turblown.

Yeah I got a motor at 22,000 and again at 96,000 miles. They were much less helpful at 96,000 but I had all of my documentation so they just had to replace it.

Its pretty easy to keep track of. I just go to the dealership and buy 1 filter, then autozone for the oil, staple my oil receipt to my filter receipt and write down the mileage on one. Pop it in a manila envelope and document it on the outside.

I think all that would satisfy them if I ever needed any work done.

Yea well, I just talked to Mazda USA and they said the district denied my records. Sooo I'm screwed. I found another place that is going to put a rebuild in with 40,000 miles on it for $3600 plus tax. Engine AND labor. So I guess it is a win lose deal. TRUST ME! If I have to put another engine in it I WILL GO CRAZYYYYY!

What I have done in the past, mazda denied my rust warranty claim on my mazda 6, So i drove to Quebec where the district warranty manager is different. The dealership there sent in my claim and it was approved. What i'm getting at is find out the area your warranty district manager covers (I'm sure its not the whole US) drive to the next district, get some receipt to cover yourself and give it a try, it may actually work.

I guess if the damage was caused by running low on oil, the warranty wont apply.

Go to the Mazda USA site, create and account with your VIN, and document your changes and other maintenance.

adding oil is not part of the history required. oil changes are. doesnt mean you dont need to add oil every once awhile.

Oh, just saw that. Well then, you don't deserve to have it covered under warranty. Owner negligence voids warranty.

just go to a different dealer even in a different city. I got my new engine without providing any records so it has to do a lot with the people in the dealer i guess

No. that was before. I already bought the rebuild for that engine. This is the REBUILD that messed up, the seals are torn to hell. Actually the service center told me it should have been covered, but the decision of the district is all that matters. I don't really care anymore though I found another company that is putting a engine in and the clutch for $4300. MAZDA SUCKS! Thanks to you guys that DID give me some advice though. For now on I'm going to take it to the same company for ALL my maintanance and oil changes.

You didn't follow the required maintenance for the car leading to your engine failing due to lack of oil............... yet Mazda sucks? o ok

Not really Jacob6875..... Mazda did the first oil changes on the car when the engine blew up. They did not have a 8 tech on site, the engine I had question about is the "so called rebuild".... took it to my guy and he said it was not a rebuild matter fact it was the same one that "so called" blew up and was just fixed and put back together. THATS WHY I SAY MAZDA SUCKS....well don't get me wrong!....I'm talking about the Mazda service departments I had to deal with.

Mazda dealerships do not take the engines apart and rebuild them.
