!@#$#@$ Rx-8 Engine, wtf

!!!

I just bought my 2004 Winning Blue Rx-8 1 year ago with 68k miles on it.
Premium fuel and synthetic oil changes, flash fwd 1 year and the engine is shot!
80,400 miles......

I started the car thursday evening and it appeared to have a heart attack (shuddered violently up front, oil light and check engine light flashed on, then it shut off)

Had it towed to service and after 2 days of trouble shooting they said I need a new engine, wtf I just bought it!

What do/should I do?

Get a new engine?
Get a rebuild kit and rebuild mine
Get a used engine (possible same problems i just had)
Scrap it and get a new car?
I owe 8200.00 on it....

Dude, it's covered under warranty. Let them replace the engine and be happy.

Since there is a 8yr/100K miles warranty on the engine, get a new one for free and be happy.

U know I felt the same dam way u do have options I thought about sayin f-it then I thought about getting a BMW or a lexus but I don't want another car payment. Plus my car is out of warranty and if I went to Mazda like a dumb *** they'll rape my pockets for a replace for about 8 grand. All said in I just went to turblown to have it rebuilt. U can throw in the towel but over all u gotta make that decison.

That's what I was wondering. Does Warranty even apply if you didn't purchase one.

I'm assuming its just my intake doing this.... Ever since I moved the MAF it started losing power and hesitating ... any suggestions there? I would like to feel better knowing its my intake rather then my engine

I will speak up for this guy since he is local. He is a relatively new 8 owner and doesn't post much. He didn't know any better and took the car to Pep boys first because he did not have a basic warranty. He had the plugs changed and of course his problems persisted, Pep boys was clueless but still had to charge him for the plugs, labor, etc.

So he paid to have the car towed to the dealer and of course they tell him he needs t replace the coils and wires at the typical enormous price tag and that if he doesn't he has to pay for the diagnosis fee and tow. They did that and the car runs fine, no engine replacement needed. So in the end it he didn't have the time to be without his car any longer and just paid the **** and got his car back.

Hard lesson learned, he just found the forums too late. But now he has SARX

Plugs, wires, and coils can all be done for under $300.00 in a couple beers time.

8 years 100,000 miles....does this apply on North America. I'm in Taiwan and my engine died in Jan and they told me only the factory warranty of 3 year 36000km applies. I go a new engine since but had to pay for it out of my own pocket. Do you guys think there anyway to claim this with Mazda Twn or JPN.

By the way don't you guys think these engine fail to easily. There's people here on 3 or 4 motors and many on two like me. WTF I paid about $52K for it drive it for 4 years and the engine dies, and this is on a N/A not boosted. What do you guys think?

It sucks but it is what it is, they did good by increasing teh warranty to 100,000 miles. They paid for two new motors for me.

It does suck though for the people who paid over 30k (or more in other countries) and to see the resale now sucks. But now there is plenty of research so if you buy one now, you have no excuses when **** goes bad.

You have to care for this car meticulously.

only applies to Mazda USA RX-8.

Couple of reasons, biggest reason came from Mazda's own "stupid ***" recommendation.

Renesis/13B-MSP Engine 应该用 heavy 一点的 engine oil. 20w50. 还要加一点 Premix. 那就没有问题啦.

So there's nothing I can do from Taiwan then? I tried emailing Mazda JPN been two months still no reply or call from anyone. Don't get it how can a car handle 9 or 10K rpm but motor fail all the time.....just doesn't seem right. I've always gone to the dealer to get my oil change ever 5KM and they even used Mazda's RX8 oil, which is a mineral 5W40.....made just for RX8 it "says".
