wtf is this? "open-air intake manifold"?

I was browsing the interwebz.....and came across this:

Looks like a pro-built rx8 with some sort of custom airbox that is either missing a part (like the filter) or......something else.

Anyone know what car this is??

I don't think this is the BMI car.

I saw this one last weekend at Road Atlanta (Formula Drift) and the radiator was installed in the rear of the car.

At 34 seconds in the first video you can see BMI on the door and the same #55 that can be seen on the door of the vid I posted. While the car in the 2nd vid is in race trim I think its the same car, unless they built TWO 4-rotor rX-8 with the same intake.
