Do you have a OEM CAT? It might be clogged.

@!!narotordo 10-10-2009 11:14 PM

Oh yeah FYI, when my first engine went it would nont go over like 3 or 4k rpms so 3rd was hard to get out of.

Yo Om, not for anything but I realllly don't see a stock 8 beating an 8 with those mods. To begin, by full exhaust i guess you mean catless midpipe? If so, that alone would probably be enough to pull on a stock 8.. then with an AP leaning out the top end you will really see a difference.. especially in long pulls like this where it matters..

Mods on this car don't do MUCH but they DEFINITELY do something. A proper cold air intake, getting rid of your cat, and a tune (AP) you will definitely be looking at something like 20-25hp and those are the ponies that will pull on a stock 8 in long pulls like we did that night.. 2nd, 3rd and into 4th.

Get rid of your CAT!

Any luck on your car?

adamwzl 07-26-2010 07:42 AM

omar did you end up fixing this issue? I am running into the same problem. Replaced coils/plugs/wires, dropped the cat installed a straight pipe. Still have power loss in 3rd gear... anyone know what the hell else to try?

alz0rz 07-26-2010 10:04 AM

/\ Compression test. :sweatdrop

adamwzl 07-26-2010 10:14 AM

sigh i guess so.. I herd the SSV might be causing this issue too.

Cattywampus 07-26-2010 01:28 PM

I had a power loss in third gear a while back and after trial and error on several mods I figures it to be be a bad set of coils. After reading my logs I learned it was only in third because that's where the most stress was on the coils. I had detonation in third only at 7k. In second and fourth I was OK. My new coils arrived and all symptoms ceased.

adamwzl 07-26-2010 01:31 PM

thanks police, I may give that a try. But I just did replace the coils last month..

Cattywampus 07-26-2010 01:53 PM

My bad set of coils were brand new too. Things happen.

NYC Drift King 07-27-2010 07:53 AM

Yes my issue was resolved. I upgraded to the BHR ignition with new plugs. And that helped a lot. But the most improvement was replacing the clutch/flywheel. My clutch was slipping it couldn't hold the 160lbs of torque lol. So I wasn't getting the power to the floor in third or sixth. Now I'm ripping dudes. I also got the compression test. I would do that bro.

adamwzl 07-28-2010 06:43 AM

thanks bro. I will get a compression test done and see how it looks.

I hit about 90mph around 9500rpms in 3rd but damn does it take a good 8-10 seconds to get there from 50.

syntheticdarkness 07-28-2010 04:44 PM

Sorry to hear your still having trouble adam.

adamwzl 07-29-2010 06:43 AM

yeah it sucks. So time to go to the dealer! yay...

adamwzl 08-03-2010 07:27 AM

So after hooking up the AP and installing the MM base map, the car feels a shit load faster now. But I cant tell if its improved over stock or just got back to stock level.. since I was having a low power issue.

Omar are you going to the meet on august 15th? If so do you mind taking my car out for a drive and testing to see if the car is actually ok or its just me.

TeamRX8 08-03-2010 08:34 AM

If all you did was install a base map then it's obviously you in one form or another

adamwzl 08-03-2010 08:54 AM

I also installed a new catback as my previous one blew apart.. but I didnt expect any type of difference from a new catback. The only difference in the two catback is the new one creates a lot more back pressure than my previous one did..

I think its me being weird, but when I dewinterized the car and drove it for a month or so I felt like the power was declining. Once I reflashed with the base map it feels like how I remember it a summer ago...

I dunno think its just me :dunno:

Could be my clutch/flywheel. If so that looks to be next years mission..
