RX-8 vs S2K trans. Don't look too similar at all.

I don't know what the gear ratios are on the S2000 version, but it can't be too far off the '8 since they have a similar power band.

i wasnt askin about the swap so id have a beefier trans for 10 billion whp. i was just askin bc mines shot to hell and i was just curious about a swap bc i personally felt the s2k trans shifted much nicer than my 8's did. thats all....

lookin at the diff gear ratios the only gear from the s2k that id want would be 6th gear instead of the 8s sixth bc its a smidge taller. the other 5 are taller as well and thats not a good thing imo....make it even slower than it already is.....!

For those who doubt the potential of the RX-8 gearbox, try one with the RP short shifter. It shifts just as nice as the S2000 gearbox.

I think Im worried about the strength of the gear box. Worries me to even drive the car hard after hearing how weak the tranny is.

Anything is possible given enough time and money

I don't know how well the two will mate up so at the very least you may have to go to a machine shop and manufacturer a housing adapter that will get it all to fit. I have a friend of mine that has access to a machine shop and he works on similar type projects. He had an Oldsmobile engine mated up to a 1930's Chrysler truck transmission.
