Why is radiator fan running?

I just got my RX8 last week, is it normal for the cooling fan for the radiator to run for 15 minutes after you shut the car off? Anyone ever have the battery run down due to radiator fam running or getting stuck on?

To turn the fan off turn the key to the "On" position and then to the "Off" position. This resets the fan cycle on the cooling circuit.

Why would you do that?

The "M" flash does not address the "after cooling" circuit on the car.

If one is concerned about their battery, they might wish to not have the fan running. Or, maybe, neighbors don't want to hear the noise at 4:00 a.m. when my car is parked right next to their bedroom window. The operating fan doesn't provide any additional cooling because the water pump is stationary while the engine is off. Heat soak is not as big a deal as some people think.

I'm sure the after-cooling circuit was engineered into the car for a reason..

The air from the fans blowing across the block and PCM must surely prolong the life of the electronics.

I will rather have a better COOLED engine than a run down battery. IT WILL NOT run if the engine is cool... get it

I was actually trying to be polite..

I posted the parameters for the after cooling circuit in the tech forum.

I've had my never-ending fan run when it's cold, hot, run for five min or 2 hrs. No rhyme or reason.

I'm also having this issue. I mentioned to the service guy when I brought my 8 in for the 7500 mile maint and he acted like he had never heard of that issue. I brought the car home and it is still doing the same thing. Fan stays on after I turn off the car. Once I waited about 6 minutes and still it was running. There is no way the small batt in that car can keep a fan blowing that fast for very long so I don't think this is normal.
My family used to have a volkswagon van that did this, and it was supposed to, but not sure if this is normal for the 8. Going to call my service guy again.
I know I can cut the fan off my turning on the batt with the key and the cutting the batt off again, but I don't want to have to do this all the time as it is annoying.

this car is self aware. the next generation will eventually overrun the human race and harness our bodies as a power source.

it's no accident that the fan is on. alot of older german cars do it too. mine only does it when its hot as ***** out and I run with the a/c on. never had a sluggish start or anything.
