Who makes the Mazda oil filter for the RX-8? Which company do they contract out to?

I hope its not FRAM. I didn't realize they made crap oil filters until I started researching thanks to this Board!

Doing some research on the Mazda MX-5 Miata board, I found that they formerly were made by Tenneco but now seems to be a mixed bag and nobody is quite sure. I guess if you can find the Mazda Japan ones they seem to be very good.

Just as long as its not made by Fram. Mazda Canada's filters are made by that lousy outfit.

I would like to know about the Mazda oil filter and the Mazdaspeed oil filter too... I'm curious on their specs and if they are worth anything or if its better to use somebody else. If anybody knows the best high performance filter, than feel free to state it.

Fram really that bad???

I just picked one up... because Autozone is doing a special... Fram filter & 5 quarts of Castrol GTX for $11.99

Typically I get purolator's pure 1 series. (worked fine for my ****-ton engines)

I'll take the fram back if it's that bad! ... Or will it be OK if i get it the hell of my car within a few thousand miles??
