Who has the most miles using pure synthetic oil?
Yes, I know, talk about synthetic oil has been beat to death around here. With all the back and forth, I'm curious to know who has put significant miles on the 8 using nothing but pure synthetic oil (group IV or group V).
To keep this from becoming a flame war, I'd really just like synthetic oil users to post the following:
- Oil type
- Oil grade
- Miles using that oil
- Significant problems and/or engine replacement

I swap the 5w20 out a week something after I got my car back. Its gonna be ALL Synthetic baby !
no 5w20 bullshit of course, 20w50 all the way
(and 15w50 or 10w40 for winter months
)

damn NYC is def not taking a change on this motor.....20w50.....hell just but 75w90 in there shuld keep the wear down on the seals and bearings.....(and of couse will help that it's so thick it prob won't spin anythign) haha
with the amount of oil my car goes through, i wouldn't want to spend the extra money on synth.
in fact, i really don't understand running synthetic in this car. i mean, doesn't it resist burning? this car is supposed to burn oil, right?
and i'd be careful with very heavy oils too since you don't want your pressure to go too high. what's the clearance like in these things anyways? oil as heavy as nycp runs, i would postulate, slow you down.
i know there's lots of threads on this, and i haven't read any of them. this is just my 2cents. and it's usually worth far less than that.
sorry op for not following the guidelines. it's funner for me this way.

if you talk about Gear oil's 75w90. is not the same rating as motor oil. 75w90 is something like 10w40 for motor oil.
if you mean motor oil, I do not recall any motor's that thick. the heaviest one I've seen was 60 wt motor oil.
if you want to argue about oil weight, take the manual out and read it.
if you want to tell me 5w20 offers enough protection, go read Castrol's site
if you wanna tell me my engine has failed. go read Mazda's recall.
Thank you

I've posted this before...my brother ran his Toyota for 75,000 miles on the original factory oil, which I presume was dino.
Just for fun, as long as I'm reposting, attached are a couple of items that I downloaded from other posts on this site.
