It's a strong possibility this happened at a dealership service bay. I work at a dealership, did pretty much the same thing to my car (my fault). As to talk to the service manager.

Oops didn't see you talked to service manager already. Ask for his boss (GM). B4 having a car worked on, go over the car with the service writer so both of you know the condition of the car (future reference).

Thanks for the hint. A guy at work said his dealer actually has a dent sheet to fill out pre and post work, like at rental car places.
