Wheel seems to be stuck to the rotor

I've done the brakes on all my cars for years. So I am not completely new at this...

This is the first time I've needed to take off the front wheel of my 2005. The car only has 38k miles.

The wheel seems to be stuck to the rotor. Does anyone have tips on how to break them a part?

Are you running aftermarket wheels?

Put on 2 lugs nuts, 3-4 threads deep. Make sure the car is on jack stands. Put on a good work boot, and start stomping the inside of the wheel/tire and force it off. I had to do this once. And don't be a sissy about it

That was my first choice. After 10 minutes of malleting, I brought out the boot.

Thanks for all the help.

1. I jumped up and down on the wheel... no go.

2. I tried the mallet first but also no good.

3. I kicked it a LOT... out of frustration, with no success.

4. I am female... sooo I lack weight and some upper body strength. I took it in to get new tires (which were needed) and let them deal with it. I'll do the brakes tomorrow.

Thanks Again!

Well when you get the wheels off for the brake job besure to use some type of NEVERZIE on the face of the hub and the back of the wheel just need a little this will prevent the Galvanic corrison which is due to the two different types of metal (i.e. the alum. wheel and the steel hub). This will solve the problem in the future and also some on the lug nuts so they won't freeze up on the studs.

When you do the front brake job make sure that the sliding pins are free to move EASY. You may have to clean them up and the mounting holes also this will alllow the caliber to float on the disc so the brake work alot better. My daughters car were so crapped up that we had to beat the drivers side out a little hammer/chisle (just a little; but the passenger side was a bear!!), had to heat the caliper up some and then beat on it then used a breaker bar to get it to move some, lots of penitrating oil and then the impact to get it to spin before we could get it out. Make sure to put some NEVERZIE on the pins and they move freely.

GOOD LUCK wro87
