You posted that in the RX-7 Club, and the answer is pretty clear.

Hey S.M., I read the thread you linked to on the RX7 Club(thanks) regarding the RX-8 trans. So far I have had no problems abusing mine and I have yet to replace the factory fluid with Red Line or Royal Purple. I think using a smooth, relaxed, shifting technique will do wonders in keeping a tranny together. This trans was not made for bang-shifting.

I use a similar technique. I don't like the fact of thinking my transmission is sequential.

I'm not sure of the torque capacity of the RX-8's transmission. My guess is Mazda put its capacity to probably at least 50% over stock.

You and I have shared similar philosophies in the past, which are along the lines of 50% over stock on mods. With that in mind, I expect no problems from my driveline until low 12's in the 1/4 mile. Achieving better than a 10:1 weight-to-power ratio may expose the first weakness in the 8's driveline. Of course, accomodating technique can cushion things a bit. That's why I launch between 4 and 5K rpm, especially with the spray on.

What would be a good transmission to replace the Rx8's with if you planned on going turbo with it?

Most people seem to be mentioning the turbo II trans.
