oil reservior catch tank...does it actually do anything useful? anyone have this or used something similar before?

 

Shouldn't really need it unless your turbo....to my understanding.

 

Catch tanks are usually required for racing, to catch any excess blow by oil that might drip on to the track. Only required if the regulations deem so, or your are at extremely high rpm all the time (like racing). Absolutely no use on the road, a waste of money I think.
