What are the exact consequences of reversing leading and trailing spark plug?

I received an used engine with the spark plugs reversed. I have no clue if the engine ran with the spark plugs like this or not.

But just a theorical question - does reversing the plugs wil cause damage to the seals for sure?

I read a few comments about potential damages but does anyone have an actual testimony?

Thanks

Christian

Have you seen the inside of an engine damaged by that situation?

I have an used core here, tomorrow i will open it and check the clearance.

If the engine was indeed started/run with the spark plugs reversed, is there any way to confirm the damage? I assume that the middle of the apex seal will be cut and there would be a loss of compression, is that correct?

Thanks guys that is what i suspected. There is a lot of misconceptions out there.

asian engineers are usually smart enough not to let something as basic as this ruined an engine.
