hey all,

i came across this piece after i bought the car and had it up on the hoist for an oil change, i have talked to my mechanic, he doesnt know what it is or what it does, we looked on his computer to see what part and we can see it on his drawing thing but arent able to click on it to find out what it is, and i have tried searching the different possibilities, on rx8club.com and i just dont know what it is or what it does, it is snapped in half(just look at the picture) it moves up and down(the top piece) all i know is i want it fixed

location of snapped object is by drivers side front wheel, located by the shock(as you can see in the picture)

(it also looks to me that someone had already welded it before and has snapped again and this is what im seeing)

It's the ride height sensor for the self-leveling headlights. There's one located in the front and one located on the rear.

 

after further research i looked into searching up ride height sensor in the forums, and i found out exactly what that metal rod thing is, its officially called (front or rear) auto-leveling sensor

i found a PDF file about it and bam, its the exact part, and it makes sense now that my MID light has come on quite frequently lately, but im kind of confused that its been lately(within 3k miles) as it has been broken 30k miles ago....=/

NO WONDER THEY WELDED IT TOGETHER instead of replacing it

just picked up a set of front and rear leveling sensors off a 2005 rx8 on ebay for 219 plus 18 shipping, what a sweet deal!!!
