What is this?

Dumb question.. what's the random part attached to the intake accordeon tube? It's an empty black plastic box.. No function that I can see.

I'm assuming it has something to do with noise suppression?

Anyone know what it's called and the intended function?

Resonance chamber. I think it's function is just as you've stated; intake noise muffling.

Which leads me to the next question - would taking it off and closing off the hole make the intake louder? Has anyone tried?

Incidentally, this would also make a great location for a nitrous nozzle Although the TB spacer plate by BHR sounds like it will be nice too.. Decisions decisions

it's not in that pic.. If I have time this weekend I'll see if I can find a simple way of blocking it off and post up some pics
