What is the typical relationship between Water temp and oil temp at steady state cruise? Same? Oil Higher? Water higher?
Let's use the following outside temperatures:

On a stock RX-8? I am turbocharged and generally my oil temps and coolant temps are pretty close, usually within 5 degrees at cruise. Under boost and driving hard my oil temps are about 5 degrees higher than coolant temps.
I actually did some logging while stuck in traffic in 95F weather and the hottest I could get coolant was 215F and oil was 218F. This was an hours worth of bumper to bumper traffic with the AC on almost full with purposeful throttling and jaunts into boost followed by sitting in traffic.
I don't get to drive in traffic so it was a good opportunity to get some data.
