Over a $20 fix, i doubt it. That is unless the reflectors on yours are really f'ed up.

i'd like to drill some holes to fix this. Are there any instructions posted anywhere on how to remove the tail light?
Thanks.

There is a DIY on drilling and to put in the new gasket.

Total bullshit. I called my dealer and got so frustrated I told the woman on the phone to give me the boss because it was clear that I was talking to a stump.

Seals are now available BTW - $58. I am trying to get the dealership to pay for it - *********.

It goes on to say "DO NOT attempt repairs as this is considered normal." In other words, no warranty fix for water in tail light (or any light for that matter).

Oh yeah, it also says it's normal for 2003-2009 Mazda6, 2004-2010 Mazda3, 2006-2009 Mazda5, 2007-2009 Mazda CX-7 and 2007-2009 CX-9. Essentially the ENTIRE MODEL range Mazda produces.

Yup, this looks normal...Mazda Canada...they said too bad...so sad...
Changed the gaskets myself with the new ones...Two Yrs later...same thing... Plus this baby is garaged and very seldom see,s rain unless caught in a freak downpour... drilling... have to give that some serious thought but may be an option...maybe driving it in reverse @ 160KPH would dry it out...

Drilling isnt the only option.

I have used silicone with acetic cure over the gasket and around the edges to seal it.

hey guys i found a temporary solution to the problem (that worked for me),

If you know/think it is the gasket (which it normally is), then do what i did

1. remove light
2. clean current gasket and body of car behind the light
3. i used wax on the paint couple of layers on the paint where the light goes (So water flows better)
4. clear out all water and condensation out of light cluster
5. then i used vaseline (apply a fair bit) on the gasket (ONLY WHERE IT CONTACTS THE CAR and where you dont want water to go) and around the light bulb holes then placed the light bulb in carefully.

Also DONT vaseline the middle bit of the gasket where water flows through

6. bolt everything back together

This has stopped condensation and water in my tail light for almost 1-1.5 years, so i am happy and still hasnt leaked touchwood.

P.S. Make sure you get all water droplets out otherwise it condenses
Also i live in New Zealand, Auckland and it rains alot here and the rx is my everyday car so it seen its fair share of weather.

i dont have picts but if i do it again in the future i might document it but its preety straight forward.
