Just got my 04 8 back from the dealership yesterday (had engine replaced) and noticed a couple issues.

First issue is the heater is not working. I cycled between cool and hot quickly and it started working momentarily but it was not working this morning. A quick google search turned up a possible poor soldered connection behind the control unit, does this sound about right?

Second issue is the oil light came on this morning after starting it. It went off about a minute after running. I checked the oil level after getting to work and it is full. I found a TSB regarding oil pan replacement, would the new engine come with a oil pan? or was it transferred from the old engine? I haven't had a chance to crawl underneath to check it out.

I hear u bud i have the same problem with my heater...soldering connections may be one of ur issues, but there is a possibility that ur air mix actuator is broken."that is the part that opens the vent to let hot or cold air in"
Sometimes if u get the heater working and u hit a bump on the road...it will stop blowing hot air and start blowing cold air. Does ur car do this?

 

you should go ask them why your oil light came on right after getting your car back

 

Fixed it! Read the DIY heater control circuit board re-solder and tackled it this morning, worked like a charm. The light turned out to be the low coolant light, I assumed because it was so close to the oil pressure gauge it was a low oil warning lamp.

 

Was coolant low or is it because you have a bad sensor?
You can search for what to do with that if you don't already know.

 

Coolant level was slightly low, hopefully no more issues for awhile.
