hey guys,
i have an 04 automatic rx8,and i wanted to know how would i remove the transmission filter? and where is it located exactly ? any one know ? if so please help out.

2004 Autos are 4 speed, and do not have any filter for the Auto Trans, there is a small donut magnet inside the trans oil pan, you have to remove the 20 bolts to get to it and at the same time ATF fluid will drain (ooze) out when you start to remove it's 20 bolts and break gasket seal...clean any metal debris on magnet and then renew ATF, Gasket...that is all....
The later 6 speed Auto's has a Strainer inside the Oil Pan, this is it's only filter, again same idea to find, you have to remove oil pan bolts and oil pan to see strainer and clean...renew ATF.
