Question Transmission Fluid.... 2 Quarts and still not dripping!

I've drained my transmission, and filled it up with two quarts of Redline MT90, yet it still isn't dripping from the fill hole...and now I'm out of transmission fluid! I think that it was maybe barely barely barely dripping as the last drop drizzled in from the hose. I thought the transmission capacity was 1.8 quarts?

What gives?

And is she safe to drive? Because I have to drive her this weekend!

Thanks!

I did the same. Stick your pinky in the fill hole....the oil is just there. It's okay, put the fill plug back in and drive .

Mine took two full qts less whatever residue was stuck in the tubes and bottle. When the residue finally drained back into the bottle, I estimate that there was about an ounce in there, so it used about 1.9 qts.

I'm now also stuck with my car at the dealer and two quarts of Redline MTL, and he called me saying they need more because their service system says they need at least three? WTF? He said he can "risk" using just the two. That should be okay, right? Last thing I want to do is drive an hour across town with traffic to bring the dealership some more fluid...

Seemed like mine could've held more, too. But I doubt an extra quart.

it depend on the pump they use, and the hose length, I did it at home with a hand pump from autozone, it takes 1.9 qt for it to drip.

I've often just pumped till I get a little to run out the fill hole.

Proper fill level is just below the fill hole with the car level. If you have the front on ramps and you wait until it drips, its too full.

Actually it is Full when it is just dripping out, If your car is not on a Level Surface then you could have some overfilling..a little..

Better go get another quart, if you ever have a tranny issue, the service report will show it wasnt refilled to specs,at your request. could be a headache later.

Of the two people stuck with transmissions not quite full, one was five years ago and one was a week ago. I suspect they've found a soultion by now.

If not...I'd just tell the dealer to finish topping it up with standard gear oil of the proper grade.

Same thing happened to me this weekend. I got probably 1.95 quarts in there (because the pump I used was not able to extract the last 0.05 quart), and it was still not dripping out of the fill hole, although the fill quantity is supposed to be 1.8 quarts. I think the 2.06 quarts I read about the S2 transmission is probably applicable to the S1 as well.

Still, I didn't think much about it. I just wrapped up the work and drove away. Don't think there will be any issue.
